ILLINOIS — A 45-year-old Clinton woman died Tuesday night after her vehicle left the road and struck a tree, authorities said.
State Police reported the crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Route 54 near 300 East Road in the Village of Kenney. The woman was driving eastbound when she went off the road at a curve and was ejected from the vehicle. She was the only person in the car.
DeWitt County Coroner Randall Rice said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
All lanes at the scene were temporarily closed but have since reopened. The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
