
ILLINOIS — One person was killed and several others injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in rural Putnam County.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 4:35 p.m. near the intersection of IL 18 and 1150 East in Magnolia Township.
According to authorities, a vehicle driven by a man from Cresthill was traveling east on IL 18 when he attempted to pass several vehicles and struck a westbound car driven by a woman from Downers Grove.
Both drivers were taken to OSF in Peoria by LifeFlight. A passenger in the Cresthill vehicle was transported by ambulance to OSF in Streator. Another passenger, 42-year-old Elvis Escobar, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police Reconstruction Unit.
