ILLINOIS — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night in Fulton Township, according to authorities.
Deputies with the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched just before 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 to a report of a traffic crash involving two vehicles on Illinois Route 84 near Spring Valley Road.
According to officials, deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged. First responders worked to free three occupants who were trapped inside the vehicles. All three individuals were transported to MercyOne Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said one of the drivers later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The two other individuals involved were reported to have suffered serious injuries that are considered non-life-threatening and are continuing to recover.
The crash remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. Officials have not released the identities of those involved or additional details about what led to the crash.
