FLORIDA — A 16-year-old girl was killed early Thursday in a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Road 520, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 3:40 a.m. near Cressa Circle in Cocoa. The teen driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 15-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, troopers said.
An initial investigation found the vehicle was traveling above the posted speed limit when the driver lost control and ran off the roadway.
The crash closed all westbound lanes of State Road 520 at Cressa Circle. Drivers were asked to use State Road 524 as an alternate route while the scene was cleared.
The crash remains under investigation.
