FLORIDA — One man is dead and another is seriously injured following a crash on State Road 20 in Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on State Road 20 at Reaves Avenue. Troopers said a 76-year-old man was driving a pickup truck south on Reaves Avenue, north of State Road 20, while a 27-year-old man was traveling westbound in the left lane of SR 20 in another pickup truck.
According to investigators, the front of the westbound vehicle struck the left side of the older driver’s truck as he attempted to cross SR 20 westbound toward the eastbound lanes.
After the collision, the younger driver’s vehicle struck a business sign and came to rest on the right shoulder of SR 20 eastbound. The older driver’s truck was pushed north and came to a stop on the westbound lanes of SR 20.
Authorities said the 76-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The 27-year-old driver was transported by emergency crews with serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
