FLORIDA — A 39-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Bradenton, according to police.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on 1st Street as the driver was traveling southbound, the Bradenton Police Department said. Investigators said the man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into several poles.
The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other passengers were in the vehicle.
Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
Southbound 1st Street between Manatee Avenue and 9th Avenue was closed for several hours while crews investigated the scene but has since reopened.
The crash remains under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Bradenton Police Department.
