FLORIDA — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash Sunday night on Interstate 75 in Collier County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:17 p.m. near mile marker 70.

Troopers said a Buick sedan driven by a 66-year-old Naples woman was traveling west in the outside lane. Ahead of the Buick was a Kia driven by a 60-year-old Lehigh Acres man, who had a 60-year-old female passenger.

At the same time, a Toyota SUV driven by a 52-year-old Miami man, with a 14-year-old passenger, was traveling east in the inside lane.

Investigators said the Buick struck the rear of the Kia and a guardrail before crossing the median into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with the Toyota.

The impact caused the Toyota to overturn. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
