FLORIDA — A Wesley Chapel woman died Wednesday afternoon following a crash on State Road 52, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. when the 37-year-old woman was driving a Ford Explorer westbound on SR-52.
At the same time, a 51-year-old man from Orlando was driving an international cargo truck eastbound on the same road.
According to FHP, the woman attempted a U-turn, entering the path of the oncoming truck. The two vehicles collided and came to rest on the outside shoulder of the highway.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
