FLORIDA — A 37-year-old Crawfordville man was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 98, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. near Apalachee Street.
The Crawfordville man was driving a sedan behind an SUV operated by a 44-year-old Carrabelle woman. Authorities said he attempted to pass the SUV but struck its rear left side with the right front of his vehicle.
The sedan then traveled onto the south shoulder of the highway and collided with a large tree. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver was not injured.
U.S. Highway 98 was temporarily closed but has since reopened.
