FLORIDA — A 38-year-old DeLand man was killed late Wednesday night after his car veered off Interstate 4 and crashed into multiple trees, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of I-4, west of DeBary Avenue near mile marker 106.
Investigators reported that the man was driving a 2018 Honda Civic in the outside lane when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a fence, and hit a tree. The impact caused the car to spin and collide with a second tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity, pending notification of his family. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
