ARIZONA — One person is dead following a crash Sunday morning in Yuma County, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
In a press release, YCSO said the crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. in the area of Levee Easement Road and South Avenue 2 1/2 East. Investigators said a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on the north side of Levee Road when it collided with the rear of a parked trailer loaded with irrigation poles.
Emergency crews with Rural Metro responded to the scene, but authorities said the driver of the Jetta was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.
Deputies said speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, but the investigation remains ongoing.
