ARIZONA — A 35-year-old woman was killed Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on an Interstate 19 offramp, according to Tucson police.
The crash occurred on the Valencia Road offramp when a 2014 Honda Civic traveling southbound on I-19 exited at a high rate of speed. Police said the Civic sideswiped a Toyota Camry before striking the rear of a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was stopped at a red light.
The woman, identified as Mariana Ruiz, was a passenger in the Honda Civic and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Civic, a 40-year-old man, was transported to a hospital for treatment. The drivers of the Camry and the tractor-trailer were not injured.
Police said it is still unclear whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
