ALABAMA — An 85-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustained in a two-vehicle crash earlier this week, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The crash happened Wednesday, Aug. 27, around 3:21 p.m. on U.S. 280 near the 133-mile marker in Lee County.

Troopers said Melinda R. Adams of LaGrange was critically injured when the 2015 Lincoln MKZ she was driving was struck by a 2017 Nissan Sentra. The Sentra was driven by 32-year-old Cortney R. Jones of Columbus, Georgia.

Adams was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, where she died from her injuries on Friday, Aug. 29.

Jones was also injured in the crash and taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment. A 17-year-old passenger in Adams’ vehicle was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

ALEA said the crash remains under investigation.
