ALABAMA — A teenager has died and another was injured following a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Cleburne County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The crash occurred around 2:29 p.m. April 1 on Cleburne County Road 70 near County Road 230, about eight miles east of Piedmont.

Authorities said a 17-year-old from Piedmont was a passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Trax when the vehicle left the roadway, overturned and struck several trees.

Troopers reported the teen was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 16-year-old also from Piedmont, was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officials have not released the extent of the driver’s injuries.
