
ALABAMA — A Columbus, Georgia, woman died Saturday following a head-on collision in Russell County, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 14 on U.S. 80, approximately 14 miles west of Phenix City. According to officials, a Nissan Rogue collided head-on with another SUV.
The driver of the Nissan Rogue was transported to a hospital in Columbus, where she later died from her injuries. She was identified as 70-year-old Marie B. Thompson.
The driver of the other SUV was also injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of that driver’s injuries has not been released.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash.
