One person dead following vehicle crash in Alabama

ALABAMA — A Madison man was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Franklin County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Authorities identified the victim as Arthur L. Brackett, 62, of Madison. Troopers said Brackett was a passenger in a 2022 Land Rover Range Rover that left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Brackett was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Range Rover was injured in the crash and transported to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield for treatment. No additional information about the driver’s condition was immediately available.

The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Alabama 24 near the five mile-marker, approximately three miles east of Red Bay.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash. No further details have been released.
