WISCONSIN — One woman is dead and another person was injured following a UTV crash Saturday in Marinette County, according to authorities.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were notified around 3:04 p.m. of a single UTV crash on Caldron Falls Road in the Town of Stephenson.
An off-duty sheriff’s detective who reported the crash said the UTV had rolled over on the side of the roadway, trapping two people underneath. The detective began rendering aid before additional responders arrived.
Investigators said the UTV, driven by 40-year-old Brooke D. Boulanger of Crivitz, was traveling north when it failed to navigate a turn and rolled over.
Authorities said Boulanger, who was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, died from her injuries at the scene.
A passenger, who was also not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, was injured and transported for medical treatment.
Officials said speed, alcohol and failure to wear a seatbelt appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, the medical examiner’s office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Town of Stephenson Fire Department, Twin Bridge Rescue and Oconto Falls Ambulance Service.
