NORTH CAROLINA — A 76-year-old man was killed in a UTV crash during a snowstorm Sunday morning in Madison County, North Carolina, according to authorities.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Buckeye Ridge shortly after 10 a.m. following a report of a UTV that had crashed over an embankment. The crash involved one person.
Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, the driver, Hugh Blomeke, was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, deputies reminded the public to operate UTVs only when weather and visibility conditions are safe.
The crash remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
