KENTUCKY — A passenger was killed and a driver was critically injured in a utility terrain vehicle crash Friday night in Boyle County, according to Kentucky State Police.
Troopers from the agency’s Richmond Post responded to Forkland Road in the Gravel Switch community just before 9 p.m. after being called to assist the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office with a single-vehicle crash.
Investigators said Jason Whitaker, 41, of Lebanon, was driving a Can-Am UTV when he lost control while navigating a right-hand curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
A passenger, identified as 63-year-old Connie Thompson of Lebanon, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boyle County Coroner’s Office.
Whitaker was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Toxicology results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Kentucky State Police with assistance from local emergency agencies.
