HILLIARD — A woman was killed Saturday night in the second of two major crashes that occurred minutes apart on Interstate 270 in Hilliard.
The Hilliard Division of Police reported that the first collision happened at 8:44 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-270 near Roberts Road.
The crash, which involved three vehicles, resulted in no serious injuries.
A second crash occurred just 10 minutes later, at 8:54 p.m., in the traffic backup from the first incident. The second collision involved four vehicles.
According to police, a Pontiac struck a Honda Civic, which then hit a BMW, causing it to collide with a Honda CRV.
The driver of the Honda Civic, 36-year-old Haley Ziverts of Columbus, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Ohio Department of Transportation cameras captured images showing a significant backup in the northbound lanes of I-270 past Roberts Road, while traffic on the southbound side remained light.
The investigation into the crashes is ongoing.
