VIRGINIA — A tractor-trailer driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Greensville County, according to Virginia State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 2 p.m. on I-95 South near the 12-mile marker at the Route 301 exit. An initial investigation found that the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound when it ran off the right side of the highway, struck multiple trees and overturned.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
All southbound lanes of I-95 in the area were closed for an extended period as crews responded to the crash. According to VDOT, the lanes reopened shortly after 5:30 p.m. The crash remains under investigation.
