One person dead following three-vehicle crash in Florida

FLORIDA — A 58-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Land O’ Lakes, according to authorities.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 6:50 a.m. on March 29 on Ehren Cutoff, just north of Belinda Drive.

Investigators said the man was driving a GMC Savana southbound when the vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The van then struck two northbound vehicles—a Ford Escape and a Ford F-350—in nearly head-on collisions.

Authorities said the impact caused the van to rotate and overturn before coming to rest in the roadway. The driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Escape, an 80-year-old man visiting from Ontario, and the driver of the Ford F-350, a 61-year-old man from Texas, were both treated for injuries that were described as minor.

All three vehicles remained in the roadway, temporarily blocking traffic while crews worked to clear the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
