
FLORIDA — A 31-year-old man from Lehigh Acres was killed in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Collier County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 3:03 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 29 and Oil Well Road.
According to investigators, a 22-year-old man from Bonita Springs was driving a sedan west on Oil Well Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. The sedan then collided with an SUV traveling south on State Road 29.
After the initial impact, the SUV rotated and was struck by a semi-truck traveling north on State Road 29, driven by a 53-year-old Naples man.
The driver of the SUV, identified as the 31-year-old Lehigh Acres man, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
A 30-year-old Lehigh Acres woman who was a passenger in the SUV sustained serious injuries and was also taken to a hospital.
The driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
