OHIO — A woman has been charged after a fight on a Metro bus ended in a stabbing Wednesday afternoon, according to the Akron Police Department.
Officers were called around 3:45 p.m. on September 10 to the 500 block of East Market Street following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a 23-year-old woman on the sidewalk across from Summa Health Akron. A Summa Health police officer was already providing aid by applying pressure to her wounds.
Investigators said the incident began as an altercation between two women on a Metro bus. After both exited the bus, 34-year-old Chavella Dorris allegedly charged at the victim and stabbed her several times.
The victim was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Dorris was arrested at the scene, and police recovered a box cutter from her purse. She has been charged with felonious assault and is being held at the Summit County Jail.
