
FLORIDA — A man is dead following a roadway shooting early Sunday morning in Plant City, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Dispatchers received a 911 call around 4 a.m. reporting that a person had been shot multiple times.
Deputies responded to the intersection of the westbound Interstate 4 entrance ramp and Branch Forbes Road, where they found a man suffering from upper body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have released few details about what led to the shooting.
As of Sunday morning, both the on- and off-ramps for westbound I-4 at Branch Forbes Road remained closed as investigators worked the scene.
Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.
“Our detectives are working diligently to determine exactly what led to this shooting,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to come forward. Even the smallest detail could be critical in helping us bring answers to this case.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
