
VIRGINIA — A man died Thursday morning after police said he was found with gunshot wounds on a roadway in Henrico County.
According to the Henrico County Division of Police, officers were dispatched at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, to the 1400 block of Oakland Road in response to a report of a suspicious situation.
When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the roadway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where police said he later died from his injuries.
The identity of the victim has not been released and is pending notification of next of kin.
As of the time of reporting, Oakland Road was closed between Old Oakland Road and Bentbrook Drive while investigators worked at the scene. Police said the roadway was expected to reopen by mid-morning.
Authorities said the incident is being investigated as a homicide. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Henrico County Division of Police.
