One person dead following shooting incident in Virginia

VIRGINIA — The Prince George County Police Department has opened a homicide investigation after a person was killed in a shooting late Sunday night.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 4000 block of Brandywine Drive at about 10:44 p.m. on Oct. 12.

When they arrived, they found one victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our detectives are currently working diligently to interview witnesses, process the scene, collect forensic evidence, and follow up on all actionable leads,” a police spokesperson told 8News. “We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to bring this investigation to a resolution. Further, official updates will be provided as they become available.”
