VIRGINIA — A man was shot and killed near a Petersburg gas station Monday evening, according to police.
Officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police responded around 5:19 p.m. on Sept. 29 to the 1900 block of E. Washington Street after receiving a report of a shooting.
At the scene, officers found a man identified as Tyron R. Clanton suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Police have not released additional details about the circumstances of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
