
TEXAS — One person was killed and another was critically injured following a shooting early Saturday morning at a venue in west Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. at a venue on South Gessner Road near the Westpark Tollway.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male, believed to be 17 or 18 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man was also found with a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said multiple young men and women were at the location for a rented event when a fight broke out. During the altercation, shots were fired, striking both victims.
Several people were detained and questioned at the scene. No arrests have been announced at this time.
