SOUTH CAROLINA — A late‑night altercation on Simmons Street left one person dead and another seriously injured Thursday, according to the Lake City Police Department.
Officers were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. and found two people injured. Both were transported by EMS to a local hospital, where one was later pronounced dead.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken reported that the deceased suffered incised wounds, while the surviving victim sustained a gunshot wound.
Police believe the incident was family‑related but have not released the names of those involved, pending full notification of relatives.
