SOUTH CAROLINA — A teenager was shot and killed early Saturday morning after gunfire was fired into a home, according to Spartanburg City Police.
Officers responded just before 1 a.m. to Amherst Drive, where they found a male under the age of 18 unresponsive in the living room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the teen was sitting in the living room when someone in the front yard fired several shots through a window, striking him at least twice.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name. Police believe the incident was targeted.
“This appears to be a targeted incident, and it is truly unfortunate that a young person lost their life in this manner,” said Major Art Littlejohn of the Spartanburg Police Department. “We ask the community to keep the victim’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
