One person dead following shooting incident in Ohio

OHIO — A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the Franklinton neighborhood.

Columbus police officers responded to reports of a shooting around 1:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Dana Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers detained several individuals and learned that the victim, identified as Braiden Johnson, had already been taken to the hospital by a family member.

Johnson was transported to Mount Carmel Franklinton, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m.

A spokesperson for Columbus City Schools confirmed that he was a student at Starling PreK-8.

The Columbus Division of Police is continuing to investigate the shooting.
