OHIO — Youngstown City police detectives are investigating after a man arrived late Thursday at St. Elizabeth Health Center with a gunshot wound that he said occurred the previous night.
According to police reports, the man told investigators he was walking along East Dewey Avenue around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday when he heard two people arguing near a pair of SUVs. He said the argument escalated, and he then heard several gunshots.
The man reported that he ran from the area and did not immediately realize he had been shot. He said he walked to a home on East Myrtle Avenue and later stayed with a “lady friend” before seeking medical treatment.
When asked why he did not go to the hospital sooner, the man told police he was tired, according to the report.
Officers said the man suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh. Detectives with the Youngstown Police Department are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting.
