
OHIO — A man was found dead following a reported shooting early Friday morning in Dayton, according to authorities.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 5:55 a.m. to the 30 block of Illinois Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting, a sergeant with the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch said. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 44-year-old man lying in a vacant lot.
Dayton Police Lieutenant Eric Sheldon said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office responded to handle the death investigation.
The incident is being investigated by the Dayton Police Department Homicide Unit. No additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any potential suspects were immediately released.
