One person dead following shooting incident in Ohio

OHIO — Toledo police are investigating a second homicide following an overnight shooting that occurred early Saturday in the city’s east side.

Officers responded shortly after midnight to the 1700 block of Nevada Street, where they found a vehicle that had crashed.

Inside, they discovered 20-year-old Amir Thomas-Clair suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

A second person inside the vehicle was also shot and remains in critical condition. A third occupant was not injured.

The incident occurred just three minutes after another fatal shooting about a mile and a half away, in which 20-year-old Salvador Ruiz was killed.

Authorities have not yet said whether the two shootings are connected.
