NORTH CAROLINA — A homicide investigation is underway after a fatal shooting Thursday night left one man dead, according to the Kinston Police Department.
Officers responded just before midnight to a report of a shooting near the 500 block of East Bright Street.
Upon arrival, they found 52-year-old Daryl Dudley of Kinston inside an apartment, unresponsive and suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched, but Dudley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene personnel from the Kinston Police Department are actively investigating the incident. “We remain committed to pursuing justice without compromise and continue to seek the assistance of the public we proudly serve,” the department said.
