NORTH CAROLINA — Deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday evening in a Robeson County community, authorities said.
According to Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins, deputies, homicide investigators and crime scene personnel responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Truck Lane, outside the Rennert community.
Emergency medical services were also called to the scene. Neighbors said they became aware something serious had occurred when they saw EMS vehicles arrive in the area.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No information was provided regarding possible suspects.
Sheriff Wilkins said more information will be released as it becomes available. The investigation remains ongoing.
