NORTH CAROLINA — Durham County deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning at a residence in the county.
According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported shooting just after 5 a.m. at a home on Ardsley Drive in Durham County. When deputies arrived, they found one person dead inside the residence.
Authorities said a resident of the home was taken into custody after admitting to shooting another resident. The victim’s body was located inside the home, and the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Investigators with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office and a forensics team remained on scene for several hours processing evidence and conducting interviews. Officials have not released the identities of those involved or details about what led up to the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
