
NORTH CAROLINA — One man is dead and another was injured following an early morning shooting in Fayetteville on Sunday, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 4:30 a.m. on Cliffdale Road. Police said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Photographs released by police indicate the shooting may have occurred at a gas station along Cliffdale Road.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released and will be withheld until next of kin are notified.
Police later learned that another man arrived at the hospital in a personal vehicle seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators determined that the injured man was connected to the same shooting.
Police described the incident as isolated and said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains under active investigation. Authorities have not said whether a person of interest has been identified. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, police said.
