One person dead following shooting incident in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — A man died Monday morning following a shooting at a home on Graves Road, authorities said.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies and medics responded to the scene, where they found a man who had been shot. He was transported by EMServ to South Central Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

An adult female was detained for questioning in connection with the incident. Officials said the shooting appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The identities of the victim and the detainee have not been released pending notification of family members. The Jones County Coroner’s Office also responded, and the investigation is ongoing.
