KENTUCKY — One man is dead and a woman is in custody following a shooting at an apartment complex in Florence Friday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The Florence Police Department said the shooting occurred around 4:35 p.m. in a common hallway at the Normandy Green Apartments on the 100 block of Lloyd Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Florence Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police identified the victim on Saturday as 29-year-old John Lawyer.
Investigators have arrested 28-year-old Anastazia M. Calhoun in connection with the shooting. She is currently being held at the Boone County Jail.
However, an inmate listing for Calhoun was not immediately available on the jail’s website.
According to police, a preliminary investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the two involving custody issues. Authorities have not released additional details.
Officials emphasized that the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active.
