KENTUCKY — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder following a shooting Monday night that left a 15-year-old girl dead in Elsmere, according to the Elsmere Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 8:45 p.m. in the 3700 block of Autumn Road. When they arrived, they found the teenage girl suffering from gunshot wounds to her arm and chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with murder (domestic violence) and tampering with physical evidence.
His identity, as well as the victim’s, has not been released.
The suspect is currently being charged in juvenile court, but prosecutors will later determine whether to move the case to adult court, as allowed under Kentucky law.
Authorities say the handgun used in the shooting has not yet been recovered. The teen told police he fled on foot and accidentally dropped the weapon.
