KENTUCKY — One person is dead following a shooting early Saturday morning in Nicholasville, according to police.
The Nicholasville Police Department said officers were dispatched around 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 10 to the area of Edgewood Drive and Shun Pike for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two men at the scene, one of whom was unresponsive.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The other man, identified by police as the suspect, was taken into custody at the scene.
Police said the suspect is facing a manslaughter charge. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation at the suspect’s ex-girlfriend’s home. Further details about the incident have not been released.
Neither the suspect nor the victim has been publicly identified at this time. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
