INDIANA — A teenager was killed in a shooting Monday night at a mobile home park north of Warsaw, according to authorities.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded shortly after 8 p.m. to reports of a shooting at Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park. When officers arrived, they found a teenage boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said a 15-year-old was detained and preliminarily charged with reckless homicide. The teen has not been identified and would only be named if charged as an adult.
Authorities said the suspect was identified following interviews with several minors who were present at the home at the time of the incident.
During the investigation, deputies also recovered a handgun that had been reported stolen.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
Warsaw Community Schools confirmed the victim was a student at a local high school and said counseling services are being made available to students and staff.
The investigation remains ongoing.
