INDIANA — A man is dead and a woman is injured following a shooting early Tuesday morning on the city’s southeast side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).
Around 5:45 a.m., a woman called police for help at the intersection of Raymond and Shelby Streets. Officers found her with a gunshot wound. She told police she had been shot on the 1600 block of East Tabor Street.
When officers went to that location, they found a man outside a home with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, initially listed in critical condition, was later reported to be in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.
Police also found a car at the Raymond and Shelby intersection with bullet holes. Investigators believe the woman drove from Tabor Street to that intersection to seek help.
Detectives said evidence is being collected, but no weapon has been recovered. Several people at the home were detained for questioning, though police said none are considered suspects at this time.
IMPD is asking anyone with surveillance footage or information about the shooting to contact Detective Douglas Swails at 317-327-3475 or by email at Douglas.Swails@indy.gov.
