One person dead following shooting incident in Indiana

INDIANA — A person has died after being shot on the city’s east side Thursday night, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the 9500 block of East 37th Place on a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they found a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken for treatment and was initially listed in critical condition but later died from their injuries.

Police have not released additional details about the incident, including information about possible suspects or what may have led to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
