GEORGIA — Authorities are investigating after a 12-year-old boy died following a shooting Saturday afternoon in southeast Atlanta, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Lathrop Street SE at approximately 1:49 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died despite lifesaving efforts.
Investigators said several people, including a youth and adults, were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Police are questioning those who were present as they work to determine what led to the incident.
The investigation remains active, and officials have not released further details regarding possible charges or suspects.
