FLORIDA — A man was killed Wednesday morning following an officer-involved shooting in Bay County, authorities said.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving multiple calls about a man walking on Webber Street near Highway 231 carrying a rifle and displaying unusual behavior.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., a deputy encountered the man in Fountain. The subject reportedly fired at the deputy, who returned fire. The deputy administered emergency medical aid until EMS arrived and transported the man to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave, in accordance with policy, while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates the incident.
