FLORIDA — One person is dead following a shooting Friday afternoon in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers were called around 4:50 p.m. to the 1200 block of Grant Street in the city’s downtown area. When they arrived, they found a person who had been shot.
The victim was taken to a hospital but later died from their injuries.
Authorities said several people have been detained and are being questioned as detectives work to determine what led to the shooting and who may be responsible.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
