One person dead following shooting incident in Florida

FLORIDA — A 37-year-old man died after being found with multiple gunshot wounds outside an apartment complex early Wednesday morning in Leesburg, according to police.

Officers with the Leesburg Police Department responded around 1 a.m. on March 4 to Parkside Apartments, located at 706 W. Dixie Ave., after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found the man lying on the ground outside the apartment complex suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported him to UF Health Leesburg for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.

Detectives with the Leesburg Police Department are continuing to investigate the shooting and are currently interviewing residents and potential witnesses in the area.
